ZCC is a fellowship of 31 member churches who together represent Christians in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe Council of Churches celebrates the International Day of the Girl Child in Chimanimani district.

The Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) joined the rest of the world in commemorating the International Day of the Girl Child, which is celebrated on the 11th of October every year. This year’s global theme is “Invest in Girls Rights: Our Leadership, Our Well-being” and the national theme “Digital generation: Our generation”. The day is set aside to raise awareness of the challenges facing girls around the world and to promote their rights. The ZCC facilitated the celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child at Nhedziwa Growth Point, Matomanzi Lodge Conference Centre in Chimanimani district. The commemorations were attended by representatives from the Ministry of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development; Zimbabwe Republic Police; Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education; and Ministry of Youth, Arts and Culture. A total of 21 female school children from 7 local schools (Biriri, Chakohwa, Nyanyadzi, Hot springs, Mhakwe, Chikwaka and Gudyanga) attended the commemoration. During the event the ZCC encouraged all stakeholders to support the girl child in their communities. The church urged members to provide girls with opportunities for leadership and development. The commemoration has been helpful to raise awareness on the challenges faced by girls and also celebrate their achievements. The day has provided opportunity to recognize the rights of girls and to promote their empowerment and equality.

Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) Orients United Theological College on Humanitarian Work

Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) Orients United Theological College on Humanitarian Work The Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) on the 15th of September 2023 oriented the United Theological College (UTC) students on humanitarian work. The orientation was held at ZCC in Harare, Zimbabwe. The UTC is a theological college that trains pastors and other church leaders. The orientation was aimed at equipping students with the knowledge and skills to integrate theology and development work. The students were taught about the different types of humanitarian work, the principles of humanitarian work, and the challenges of humanitarian work. During the presentations ZCC shared their work on humanitarian interventions in Zimbabwe which includes providing food, protection, water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), health, agriculture, livelihoods and resilience support to vulnerable members of community, and the support rendered to member churches to improve agriculture production and delivery of health and education services. The ZCC’s orientation will help UTC students to make a positive contribution to the humanitarian work in Zimbabwe. The ZCC General Secretary Rev Dimingu giving theological reflections. CWM, AACC & WCC Delegation Observe Zimbabwe’s 2023 Harmonised Elections

46th Annual Conference of the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe

ZCC General Secretary, Rev Wilfred Dimingu attended the 46th Annual Conference of the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe at Kadoma Hotel and Conference Center on Sunday the 6th of August 2023, where 7 Ministers; 5 Males and 2 Females were being ordained as Ministers of Word and Sacraments. ZCC congratulates the ministers of faith and continues to support the work of its Member Churches as we fight to ensure a united, peaceful, just and prosperous nation, where all citizens experience holistic salvation.

ZCC participated in a Conservation Agriculture Master Trainer training @ Management Training Bureau, Harare. @Foodgrains facilitated the training &covered on CA principles, participatory extension etc. Participants visited to CIMMYT to learn about different CA trials.

Youth Leadership Development Program

Zimbabwe Council of Churches hosted the 2nd Cohort at Kentucky Hotel in Harare under the theme Empowering Young Leaders: Unlocking Potential for Transformation. Rev Wilfred Dimingu gave theological reflections at the YLDP saying: “Leadership must not be about having a title but rather one should be able to execute leadership tasks. Youths need role models to shape how they perceive leadership from local level up to national level.
